Services

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a great option for your first massage as the long strokes, kneading and gliding coupled with the light to firm pressure give your muscles the ability to relax and get used to massage. Different strokes are used to promote blood flow to the soft tissue of the body resulting in reduced stress/ anxiety, reduced joint or muscle pain and can help prevent insomnia.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is commonly misunderstood. It is not an extra-deep, Swedish massage. Deep tissue is a specialized technique that builds upon itself to prepare superficial muscles for deeper strokes. These movements help to break up ischemic tissue, scar tissue, and adhesions in the connective tissue. The increasing pressure through strategic movements “strips” the deepest layers of tissue which characterizes a deep tissue massage as a different technique from other modalities. Deep tissue massage is ideal for people with chronic pain and muscle tension. Additionally, it can be a beneficial therapy for those suffering from limited mobility, injury and repetitive strain.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Also known as “trigger point therapy”, NMT considers the neuromuscular system and how it connects to the rest of the body. This is highly focused work that works to isolate and relieve problem areas in the body. THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL, RELAXING MASSAGE. You may find the neuromuscular massage is slightly uncomfortable and leaves you feeling sore, but relieved. It is vital that you maintain open, honest communication with your therapist during your massage, this is not a "no pain, no gain" scenario. The goal is to keep your muscles relaxed through the treatment. Neuromuscular massage is ideal for patients who suffer from ischemia, myofascial trigger points, neural entrapment, and nerve compression. When there is not enough blood flow in the soft tissue, the muscle can spasm and cause pain. Neuromuscular therapy works to combat that and increase blood flow.

Chair Massage

hair massage improves circulation by increasing the blood flow to help the healing in the body. It reduces stress hormones, which lowers high blood pressure. Furthermore, it increases oxygen to the brain, which builds better mental focus.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy is a form of alternative therapy that has been around for centuries and involves the application of specialized cups to areas of the body in order to stimulate healing. Cupping creates suction on an area of skin which generates the action of tissue decompression that promotes relaxation and healing. Cupping reduces muscular tension and inflammation, increases blood and lymphatic flow locally and systematically, draws out stagnant blood and lymph, dead cellar debris, pathogenic factors and toxins, stimulates the body’s circulatory and immune system functions. Cupping can also help with chronic pain, myofascia release, digestive issues, fatigue, sciatica and fibromyalgia.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a delightfully relaxing and serene treatment using smooth, warm basalt stones to massage the body from head-to-toe. This warming treatment works on energy points located throughout the body to rebalance and harmonize. The muscles are relaxed and rejuvenated in a sensation totally unique to hot stone massage. The gentle pressure from the stones, along with the accompanying massage, has the effect of wiping out tension and making you feel like you’re walking on air.

FAQ

Many men avoid massage for fear that this will happen to them or are unable to completely relax in the treatment room. However, there is no reason to be embarrassed, as touch administered to any part of the body can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can result in a partial or complete erection. An educated, professional massage therapist understands this, and it will not be an issue. If you are still concerned, consider wearing more fitted underwear, which provides more support and coverage than traditional boxer shorts. NOTE: If the therapist feels the session has turned sexual for any client (regardless of sex), the session will be stopped immediately. In no circumstance will sexual advances be tolerated.

People are self-conscious for various reasons. Some of the more common concerns are: I’m overweight. I have excessive hair growth on my body. I’ve got acne on my face or back. My feet are ugly. I have scars. Being self-conscious should never keep you from seeking health care, whether it’s visiting your doctor or seeing a massage therapist. If you’re self-conscious about a certain part of your body, you can ask your massage therapist to avoid that area.

In general, there are a few conditions where massage cannot be performed (for your safety and mine). Do not schedule an appointment if any of the following apply to you: Intoxicated (drugs and/or alcohol), A fever, cold, flu or any other contagious illness (including contagious skin conditions), Immediately following a major surgery (unless you can provide written approval from your Physician), Severe unexplained internal pain, Blood clot(s) Other conditions may limit the areas that may be safely massaged. For your safety, please be sure to inform your Massage Therapist of ALL medical conditions. If you have a serious medical condition and are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, please speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.

Please feel free to close your eyes and relax. I will not initiate conversation during your massage, unless it is necessary for your treatment. Therapeutic massage requires more feedback. Deeper layers of muscle are worked and I want to ensure that the pressure is not uncomfortable. Be sure to speak up if: the room is too hot or too cold you experience pain you have any questions related to the massage there’s anything you forgot to mention during the consultation you are uncomfortable with ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE CONVERSATION WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION OF THE SESSION AND YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FULL COST OF THE MASSAGE.

Your therapist will ask you to dress down to your comfort level and will then step out while you undress and get on the massage table under the sheet. You are NOT required to completely undress, (most clients prefer to keep their underwear on) in fact, you can choose to remain fully clothed. If you do opt to remain completely dressed, it may limit the therapeutic benefits as your therapist will not have direct contact with your skin and muscles. Regardless of whether you choose to maintain some clothing or not, your massage therapist will always ensure that you are properly covered. At no point will I uncover a portion of your body that I am not working on in that moment.
